User maintenance

Postby TBriggs » Sat Feb 25, 2012 9:26 pm

Maybe I'm missing something, but I tried to add access to my user ID table to Xataface but my Password column doesn't display. Now I kinda understand why this was done, but the upshot appears to be that I can't have the users maintaining the user IDs through Xataface. (I was going to restrict access to this table to users with ADMIN authority). Please don't tell me that I have to teach my users how to use phpAdmin to update the User IDs, because that's much too dangerous, and using Xataface was a way to give them easier and safer database access in the first place!
Thanks for any light you can shed on this conundrum.

Xataface doesn't load passwords, but it will allow you to change them. Can you elaborate a little more on the problem. I'm not sure I understand.

OK Steve - I'm sorry, I must have been too tired when I was working on this - I see now that the "Password" does display and allow entry - it just doesn't bring in the existing value, which is absolutely fine.
I have a follow-up question, unless you'd prefer me to open a new ticket.
Is there a way to blank out the input on the New Record form instead of preloading the fields with data from (I presume) the first record?
Thanks,

That shouldn't happen. What version of Xataface are you using?

Are you still on PHP 4? Any reason why you haven't moved on to 1.2.x or 1.3.x?
This is likely a bug in 1.1.x. I recommend at least upgrading to 1.1.6 as it includes a critical security patch over 1.1.5.

However I doubt that 1.1.6 actually fixes this particular problem (with the new record form being prepopulated).
