Postby wufoxuan » Thu Mar 10, 2011 9:52 am

i am using the latest version to xataface to my site.

however, when i try to upload the contents, i found 2 problems:
1. cannot diaply the video after upload
2. cannot see where is mass photo uploading aka email uploading to my xataface.

can anyone or madersatro get help? thanks.

(due to the forum spam checker claimed "Your post looks too spamy for a new user, please remove off-site URLs. ". so, i am unable to display the link her)

Ah. Yes. I recently had to turn on some undesirable measures to stop the increasing level of spam the forum has been getting.

As for your problem, I may need some more information. Are you using a custom database or are you using Internet Media Manager?

Also what do you mean by "email uploading to xataface"?

hello steve,
yes, i am using internet media manager.
imm . crystal-engrave dot com is the site installed there.

my "email uploading to xataface" means the function like picasa or flickr, can click so many email and upload them in a time.

IMM has 3 bulk importing options (not well documented). If you click on "Import Records", there will be 3 options:
1. Zip
2. Fs
3. Url List

The zip option will allow you to upload a zip file with lots of images or videos.
The Fs option will import any files that are inside the import directory (so you could upload to that directory via FTP or SSH then import them here).
3. The Url List will allow you to enter a list or URLs in the text field to videos or images and import them.

I think I experimented with FLV conversion, but I decided to disable it because it requires ffmpeg to be installed on the server and some other settings... plus getting the right quality/size compromise is a bit tricky and subjective.

So I found it easier to just convert to FLV before uploading. There are plenty of desktop apps around that make this quite easy and produce good quality.

The import form allows you to set values that should be assigned to each imported record. You should be able to use this to set the category of your imported photos.

2. does the max photos amount be 300 per album?

There shouldn't be any limit.

Looks like there's a bug in 0.2 so the default values for importing didn't stick. I've corrected this in SVN. You need to update your tables/files/files.php file with the one in SVN:
http://weblite.ca/svn/imm/trunk/tables/files/files.php

I have also added a short screencast on this page:
http://xataface.com/wiki/Internet_Media_Manager
to demonstrate how to import images in a ZIP archive - and assign default categories to the imported images.
