Hi Guys,
Is there anyway of getting Dataface to talk to an MS SQL Database (SQL Server 2000)?

I Use MySQL for everything, except I have a piece of software that has an MSSQL database, and doesn't support MySQL. I would like to get Dataface to be able to query and edit tables in that database..

Cheers!!

Hi Anthony,

At the very beginning, I had dreams of Dataface working on all databases. However, I don't have the man-power right now to support multiple platforms. Making dataface work with MS SQL would require a significant amount of refactoring as there is a lot of MySQL specific SQL used to retrieve and update the database meta-data.

Knowing that there is demand for such features could make it worth while trying to modify the architecture to make it easier to build ports - so that others could potentially port it to other databases - however we're probably looking at 0.8 or 0.9 for such a refactoring to occur.

Best regards

Steve

I personally am opposed to MS SQL. However if we ever decide to work with MR SQL, I am more than willing to help.
