I have been resisting releasing the latest work on Xataface until the documentation is complete, but I figure it can't hurt to get it out there to have the community stress testing it while the manual is still underway. This release represents almost a year of improvements over 0.7.1, and it is full of new features. Unfortunately, many of the features won't be helpful without documentation which is still underway.

Nonetheless, I have released a new version: ... _id=585646

0.8 release

Question: I see in some of the documentation ( ie: ... fields.ini

That there are references to:
since 0.8
since 0.7

Is the xataface beta 1.0 "going" to be the old 0.8 Release? I don't see 0.8 anyplace - ... _id=170571

I know this is probably confusing. Dataface 0.8 was never released. It was used internally only. Any features that say since 0.8 are available in 1.0 beta.

Can you briefly list the new features?

What sort of new features will be in the 1.0 version?

What sort of new features will be in the 1.0 version?

Almost too many to list here. The new version contains a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. It is much more flexible when it comes to defining custom select queries for tables, and customizing edit forms with arbitrary HTML.

Edit forms can now have multiple parts (i.e. tabs) so you can break up the editing into more than one screen. Improved support for add-on module development. A new web-based installer. Export as JSON (for easy AJAX integration), XML export, built-in RSS feeds, searches can now be based on related fields, more widgets (YUI autocomplete, grid, advanced multiselect, etc...). Many more features also.

There is a "Features" list in the manual (which is under construction), but you can check the progress at ... l/test.tex

Best regards
