Since Dataface is a framework do I need a separate installation for every domain that will use an app developed to use Dataface or can one installation on one domain server all dataface applications on the same server? Permissions problems?

I have been trying to get a handle on the use and deployment of applications and have /webauction working on one domain with a dataface installation and am now installing...

/dataface
/webauction
/librarian
/LCMS

...on another domain, same server. Want to test and play around some to get used to them before considering deployment outside of my personal play ground.

When I had some errorson a setup I seem to have seen some path information that indicated /dataface was trying ( succeeding ) to place files outside of the server path for the individual domains.

(side question - how would this affect domain backups??)

1. You should be able to get away with one dataface install per domain. You may just need to specify the URL to dataface differently from each domain so that the dataface URL is in the same domain as the application. (e.g. use relative urls OR use different absolute urls in each app.). If this setup is wrong, it will still work, just FCKEditor and some ajax things may not work.

2. No permissions issues with this to speak of.

3. All files that dataface writes are temporary and will be regenerated if deleted.. hence it shouldn't have any bering on your backups.
